Time to celebrate Pupil Librarians!
I had the most fantastic time being part of the National celebrations for the Pupil Librarian Assistant of the Year Award 2024. The ceremony was held in the fabulous Pearsons Building in London and was sponsored by Pearsons and Authors Aloud.
UKSLA and CILIPSLG organise the annual event. School librarians nominate students who support the running of their school libraries. Finalists are chosen and then at the event each student is supported by their families and teachers and championed by an author. I was thrilled this year to champion Jamie who had done a superb job in her school library!
All the finalists had wonderful stories to share and everyone was a winner in my eyes. The trophy was finally awarded to Kotryna who will use the prize money to set up an exciting new scheme in her school library.
The event rounded up with cake and book signing and a really happy time was had by all! Can you see how many authors were there to share in the fun? And can you also spot the Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, who gave a truly inspiring speech?
It was so nice to be part of the author team helping to celebrate the important work done by librarians and library assistants right across the country and I am so thrilled I was able to be part of the party!
Keep up the excellent work, all you library helpers and assistants out there! You do a vital and life changing job!
